What is a Vehicle Wrap?

A vehicle wrap (also called a car wrap, car skin, or auto wrap) is a printed vinyl covering that adheres directly to your vehicle. It is often mistaken for a custom paint job. We print on air-egress wrap material in-house and then laminate it for additional protection. It is applied by hand using heat to conform to the contours of your vehicle.

Will a vinyl wrap damage my paint?

No. A wrap does not damage your car's paint — in fact, some people apply clear wraps specifically to protect the paint underneath. However, if the paint is already damaged, poorly applied, or didn't cure properly, there is a possibility it could lift. Signco Wraps is not responsible for pre-existing paint damage.

Will there be seams in my wrap?

Sometimes your wrap will have seams depending on the size of your vehicle. Our skilled installers use as few seams as possible, and they are normally not even visible from just a few feet back.

Does it matter what color my vehicle is?

Accepted Answer

No, you cannot see through a vehicle wrap to the paint. If you plan on getting a partial wrap, we can incorporate your paint color as closely as possible into the design so they match and complement each other.

Is the roof included in the wrap price?

Accepted Answer

Wrap companies do not generally include the roof in the price unless you request it, since most roofs can't be seen. If you have a small car that sits low to the ground, it's a good idea to get it wrapped. Just ask us to include it when pricing your wrap.

Can I see through wrapped windows?

Yes, if we use perforated window film on the windows you can see through them from the inside. State law prohibits the use of this film on the front passenger and driver side windows. Some businesses with work vans prefer opaque vinyl to hide equipment inside.

Can I take my wrapped vehicle through a car wash?

It is recommended that you hand wash your wrapped car. However, you can take it through a car wash just like before it was wrapped. Do not scrub the window film as this could scratch it.

If my car gets damaged, can the wrap be repaired?

Yes! We can easily replace the damaged panel and you will only be charged for the portion or panel that needs to be redone.

Will my wrap peel or fade?

Accepted Answer

The vinyl manufacturer warranty guarantees no fading or cracking for up to 36 months. With proper upkeep and maintenance, wraps generally last 5–7 years. Well worth the investment!

Why choose a wrap over vinyl lettering?

Accepted Answer

Vinyl lettering or contour-cut graphics is a cost-effective form of advertising and we offer that as well. But if you can invest more, a full or partial wrap catches significantly more attention to advertise your business.

Will you provide art proofs before printing?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We will not print your wrap until you have reviewed and approved the design proof.

Do I need to wash my car before drop-off?

Accepted Answer

Yes, please wash your vehicle a day prior to bringing it in. Make sure it is free from grease, dirt, and oil. We will also wipe it down with alcohol and prep it for wrapping.

How long will you need my vehicle?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the size and complexity of the vehicle and whether we are doing a partial or full wrap. Wraps can take anywhere from 1 day to 10 days. Each job is custom — please allow the correct amount of time so that it is not rushed. It will be worth the wait!

Can you wrap other things besides vehicles?

Yes! We have wrapped tables, desks, golf carts, walls, floors, coolers, cups — you name it. We will need to look at the item to let you know if it can be wrapped.

Does the Texas heat and humidity affect wrap adhesion?

Great question for our Gulf Coast climate. High humidity can slow the initial cure time, and extreme heat can make vinyl more pliable during installation — which is why our temperature-controlled facility in Baytown is so important. Once installed and cured, quality vinyl like 3M and Avery Dennison is specifically engineered to handle Texas summer heat and coastal humidity for 5–7 years.

How does a vinyl wrap hold up near saltwater (Galveston Bay area)?

Marine and coastal environments are tough on any finish. We use marine-grade vinyl and UV-protective laminates that are built to resist salt air, humidity, and sun exposure. For boat wraps specifically, we recommend rinsing with fresh water after saltwater exposure to maximize longevity.
